  • Where did you grow up?

I grew up in a small town in Maryland and moved to Montana when I was 17.

  • Tell us about your family.

I’m married with 2 daughters. My husband also works in mental health with a local organization. My parents live in southern Montana and my brother serves in the National Guard in Massachusetts.

  • Share something about yourself that might surprise people.

During college, I was an international exchange student in Kumamoto, Japan for a year. I also lived on a sailboat for a month, traveling from Washington State up the coast of Canada.

  • Briefly describe your work experience.

Before coming to Summit, I worked at a wilderness program. Since being at Summit, I’ve worked as a Night Staff, Residential Counselor, Administrative Assistant, Registrar, and now Academic Dean.

  • If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Belize! But I'd love to go for several weeks. My husband and I want to plan a trip to Belize to see Mayan ruins and snorkel on the reef.

  • What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I enjoy camping with my family, going for walks, and playing with the dog. I also enjoy doing home improvement projects and I have a passion for art especially painting and stained glass. I'm also a sucker for a good deal so I love going to yard sales or the thrift stores.

  • What draws you most to this type of work?

First of all, my job combines the 2 areas that I studied in college, social work and business, and I really enjoy that balance. But I think the biggest thing that draws me to Summit is seeing students succeed. It is so nice to receive a phone call or email from a past student and hear about all they're doing. It's wonderful to hear their confidence and pride in themselves. That makes it all worth it.
