  • Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Columbia Falls, Montana, just 30 miles from Summit Preparatory School. It was and is a beautiful place to grow up and I feel lucky to be back in the Flathead Valley.

  • Tell us about your family.

I am the oldest of four children and love being an aunt to two nieces and two nephews.

  • Share something about yourself that might surprise people.

There really isn’t anything about me that would be surprising. I enjoyed my years in college, belonging to a sorority and have life-long friends from that time.

  • Briefly describe your work experience.

I started teaching directly after graduating from the University of Montana. I went up to Poplar, Montana where I taught for 29 years. I was a high school English teacher and then also the librarian for the last 5 years there. I moved to Billings, Montana and was a middle school librarian at two schools. I retired from that district and moved back to the Valley.

  • If you could spend a week anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would like to spend a week in London, England to soak in the culture and spend time where some of the great writers lived.

  • What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I like taking my black Lab, Jackson on walks around the Valley. He loves the lakes and rivers so we spend time there. I like to watch my nephew here in Kalispell play sports and enjoy reading and watching movies.

  • What draws you most to this type of work?

Working with high school students has always been a calling for me. I enjoy their energy, humor, and sense of possibility. They are easing their way into adulthood and if there’s anything I can do to help make that easier, I am happy to help.
